Victor Crowley – Tragedy Girls – Episode 254 – Horror News Radio

The Grue Crew and guest Vanessa Thompson are stuck in the swamps of Louisiana with Victor Crowley hot on their tails. That’s right! Horror News Radio is returning to the Hatchet franchise to see what slasher kills and laughs writer/director Adam Green has in store. The gore and guffaws continue from there as the slasher genre get a young feminine perspective with Tragedy Girls. The 80s slashers have bred the Generation Z killers who slice for the followers. Then, Dave Dreher settles in for Horror News of the Week with stories of a Child’s Play series, Chris Columbus taking on Five Nights at Freddy’s and Metallica’s James Hetfield catching Ted Bundy. Thomas then closes it all out with a Phantom Factor all about Significant Slashers. Listen and fall to pieces!

Horror is in the home and in the stars this week on Horror News Radio! The Grue Crew viewed the theatrical release Winchester! Decades of Horror: The Classic Era host Jeff Mohr to witness acclaimed actress Helen Mirren battle ghosts in this based-on-a-true-story horror film. Yes, The Cloverfield Paradox continues the mystery box ladened series with sci-fi/horror to… intriguing results. Inoperable – Most Anticipated Genre Films of 2018 – Episode 252 – Horror News Radio

The diagnosis for The Grue Crew is a pretty mixed bag. The main topic for this episode of Horror News Radio is Inoperable starring Danielle Harris as a woman wondering an evacuated hospital. Not only does she have to face an oncoming hurricane, Danielle also has to face her time displacement that’s driving her up the wall. Then, The Grue Crew countdown the Most Anticipated Genre Films of 2018. Yes, it’s the other non-horror films of science fiction, fantasy, and superheroes. Still, there’s plenty of weird monsters, gore galore and post-apocalyptic nightmares. Dave Dreher then dispenses Horror News of the Week, with horror Academy Award nominations, a new Steven Soderbergh horror film trailer and the passing of a great horror author. Thomas then wraps up with another edition of Phantom Factor. Award-winning filmmaker Christopher G. Moore is also in for all the fun on an extended Horror News Radio!

Mom and Dad – Godzilla: Monster Planet – Episode 251 – Horror News Radio

Parenting is tough. Sure, parents love their kids. But sometimes dealing with them is enough to be driven crazy. Well, hopefully not Nicolas Cage levels of crazy. Cage reunites with the Taylor half of Neveldine/Taylor for Mom and Dad, as he and Selma Blair are compelled to murder their children. Hilarity ensues… or does it? Horror News Radio‘s Grue Crew is set out to determine. Along for the ride is filmmaker and special effects guru Bill Mulligan, who puts his kaiju knowledge to the test as he analyzes the Netflix anime film Godzilla: Monster Planet. Does the King of Monsters take well to the animation format? Given the lack of Godzooky, one could probably assume yes. Dave Dreher is, unfortunately, M.I.A., but Doc steps in to breakdown Horror News of the WeekThere’s giant kaiju trailers, an announcement of a What We Do In The Shadows TV show and the possible return of Joe Bob Briggs to horror hosting. Then, Thomas wraps everything up with the return of the game show Phantom Factor. Hazzah!

Day of the Dead: Bloodline – Before I Wake – Episode 250 – Horror News Radio

No, you didn’t read that number wrong. Horror News Radio is celebrating 250 episodes of scream-inducing, spine-tingling and point off trailing discussions! To celebrate, The Grue Crew are joined by Vanessa Thompson of the Gruesome Magazine Podcast for a couple of movies that show the diversity of the show. There’s Day of the Dead: Bloodline, a remake of the underrated George A. Romero zombie trilogy that… pretty much does the same thing with one crucial – and critically misguided – twist. Then, there’s the lost Mike Flanagan feature Before I Wake which recently arrived on Netflix. More dark fantasy than horror, this is a bit more of a positive diamond in the rough. Dave Dreher takes on Horror News of the Week for an Insidious/Sinister crossover, a trailer for the 10th entry in the Hellraiser franchise and Critters coming to the small screen. Then, Thomas introduces a new game show segment to cap off this momentous occasion called Phantom Factor.

Insidious The Last Key – Episode 249 – Horror News Radio

The insidious Insidious franchise returns with The Last Key, the fourth installment in the series that James Wan started back in 2010. Now, Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan) takes the reigns as Elise (Lin Shaye) revisits her childhood home and the ghosts of her past. Both literally AND figuratively. Horror News Radio takes on the first theatrical horror film of January. More of the same dumping ground or does this one surprise? Listen to find out as The Grue Crew are joined by Joey Fittos. After that, they take a look at The Houses October Built 2, where we see plenty of diverse haunts and eventually get to something of a plot. Dave Dreher starts things off with Horror News of the Weekfeaturing congrats to Guillermo del Toro for his Golden Globe win, hilarity over the upcoming unintentional comedy of 2018 Truth or Dare and another George R.R. Martin adaptation that’ll hopefully be as gory as Game of Thrones. Plus, a contest winner is announced!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Episode 246 – Horror News Radio

Reach out. Can you feel that? Is that… Horror News Radio?! Oh yes it is! Of course, Horror News Radio is known to stray off the titular path of the genre, but this is a pretty special movie to do that for. Star Wars The Last Jedi has fans as divided as the two sides of The Force. Some say it’s the best entry in the saga yet. Others are demanding it be removed from the Star Wars canon. Where does The Grue Crew lie? Well, take a listen as Doc Rotten and Thomas Mariani are joined by Christopher G. Moore and Joey Fittos to discuss the new chapter in a galaxy far far away. Of course, there’s some Horror News of the Week before that. Dave Dreher is out this week, but Doc & company still give the news its fair due. There’s Fox being bought by Disney, horror repping at the Golden Globes and a long lost Mike Flanagan film finally being accessible. Listen in on this extended Horror News Radio episode!
