SDCC (2015) descends upon Southern California once again this year with four days (or more) of big announcements, huge events and Hollywood stars. Horror News Radio takes some time to examine some of the super hero and Star Wars news coming from the world’s largest convention. This year has some crazy heroic highlights: a caped crusader, a Merc with a mouth, a Killing Joke and a Starkiller.

The force continues to be strong for the HNR crew. And to everyone’s surprise, Deadpool steps up to steal the weekend – almost, Jedi aside. Thomas Mariani, Doc Rotten and award winning director Christopher G. Moore to recap and react to the various super hero and Star Wars related news coming out of San Diego Comic-Con 2015.

The extended geektastic weekend starts off with an incredible new Batman v Superman trailer that provided more tone and characters, including the first look at Wonder Woman in action. WB continues to amaze its captive audience with a trailer for Suicide Squad giving hungry fans a look at Deadshot, Amanda Waller, Harley Quinn and more. Oh, yeah, let’s not forget Jared Leto as The Joker! On the Marvel side of the street, Ryan Reynolds teases and thrills audiences with a crazy red-band trailer for Deadpool. Win!

And, to no one’s surprise, the weekend belongs to Star Wars VII. The main cast are all there including Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. While a new trailer is not in the cards just yet, director J.J. Abrams amazes with a behind the scene featurette that hits all the right notes. Excellent!

Eps 107 – Unfriended – Daredevil

Found footage gets anti-social in the new theatrical release, Unfriended. The film hits for its target audience but leaves the Grue-crew a little cold. The same cannot be said for Netflix’s Marvel TV series Daredevil however. Marvel is no longer content with DC holding the best in TV moniker as they best everything on the small screen with their gritty superhero drama.

Dave dishes a new plate of HORROR NEWS OF THE WEEK with information about Star Wars VII, The Entity and The People Under the Stairs. Also, Doc announces a new contest from the cool cats at Ghoulish Productions featuring a kick-ass Vampire mask giveaway.

Co-hosts Doc RottenSantos (The Black Saint) Ellin Jr.Dave DreherThomas Mariani and Vixen, the voice of reason, are back again this week to give you the best in horror as they recap, review and obliterate all that is horror this week! Also, the fun continues with the HNR REACHT Horror Poll!

Review: Unfriended (2015)

Director Levan Gabriadze and writer Nelson Greaves team up with Blumhouse to usher in a new age in horror where a vengeful spirit attacks her prey through Skype chat in the latest theatrical horror release Unfriended. Told entirely from the laptop screen of the lead protagonist, the film weaves its tale through video chat screens, text messages. Facebook posts and Youtube videos. The Grue-crew wrestle with the concept versus the execution in deciding if the film is successful or a flop.

What Have You Been Watching: Daredevil (2015)

Watch out DC, Marvel is stealing your television thunder with its latest hit Daredevil available now on Netflix. The show stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson and Debra Ann Woll as Karen Page. But it is Vincent D’Onofrio who rises above the flames as Wilson Fisk, the villain often known as Kingpin. He kicks ass, literally.

Review: Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead (2014)

Described as a mix between Dawn of the Dead and Mad Max, Wyrmwood is receiving high praise around the internet. The grue-crew chime in on their reactions to all the zany zombie action from director Kiah Roache-Turner. The highlight of the film is easily the addition of Bianca Bradey as Brooke who goes through unimaginable transformation during the film. The action is fast paced and the gore if plentiful.
