Insidious The Last Key – Episode 249 – Horror News Radio

The insidious Insidious franchise returns with The Last Key, the fourth installment in the series that James Wan started back in 2010. Now, Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan) takes the reigns as Elise (Lin Shaye) revisits her childhood home and the ghosts of her past. Both literally AND figuratively. Horror News Radio takes on the first theatrical horror film of January. More of the same dumping ground or does this one surprise? Listen to find out as The Grue Crew are joined by Joey Fittos. After that, they take a look at The Houses October Built 2, where we see plenty of diverse haunts and eventually get to something of a plot. Dave Dreher starts things off with Horror News of the Weekfeaturing congrats to Guillermo del Toro for his Golden Globe win, hilarity over the upcoming unintentional comedy of 2018 Truth or Dare and another George R.R. Martin adaptation that’ll hopefully be as gory as Game of Thrones. Plus, a contest winner is announced!

As always, the HNR Grue-Crew would love to hear from you, the listeners, the fans. You can always reach out via email at feedback(AT)horrornewsradio(DOT)com or find us on Twitter: Doc Rotten | Dave Dreher | Thomas Mariani. Also, like us on Facebook and join the Horror News Radio Facebook Group.

Eps 167 – The Conjuring 2

For most of the podcast, the Grue-crew – along with guest-host Christopher G. Moore – shares their love for the hit summer horror film of 2106, The Conjuring 2. James Wan returns to the genre to give fans one of the better horror films of past few decades. The film is full of startling images, horrific jumps, nightmarish creatures and brilliant direction. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as Ed and Lorraine Warren while Madison Wolfe makes an impressive turn as the possessed Janet.

For the What Have You Been Watching segment, things take a 180 turn as Thomas and Doc review the film Warcraft. While the film contains great special effects, the story and the acting are atrocious – some of the worst seen this year. It’s a bunch of nonsense and HNR shares their thoughts. Meanwhile, Dave returns with Horror News of the Week and Santos endures a double length edition of Stump the Saint.

Co-hosts Doc RottenSantos (The Black Saint) Ellin Jr.Dave DreherThomas Mariani and Vixen, the voice of reason, are back again this week to give you the best in horror as they recap, review and obliterate all that is horror this week! Oh, and don’t forget – Stump the Saint! Eps 105 – WolfCop – Furious 7

The HNR grue-crew dive into the ludicrous lupine lampoon, WOLFCOP, and review the box office smash from James Wan, FURIOUS 7. Currently available on Netflix, the horror comedy Wolfcop features a blend of Wolf-man meets Troma. The man behind Insidious and The Conjuring goes Hollywood driving the Fast the the Furious franchise into its seventh installment with Furious 7.

Dave dishes a new plate of HORROR NEWS OF THE WEEK with information about Twin Peaks, Stung and passing of two horror legends: Robert Z’Dar and Tom Towles.

Review: Wolfcop (2014)

If you are a fan of Troma films and love a good werewolf pic, then WOLFCOP is the film for you. It is not, however, necessarily a film for every host on HNR. The film is high concept, low brow humor and gory special effects. What else would a fun-loving horror fan need?

What Have You Been Watching: Furious 7 (2015)

James Wan delivers with his first foray into high action Hollywood blockbuster features with FURIOUS 7. The film has a tremendous cast featuring horror and John Carpenter favorite Kurt Russell in a supporting role. Doc Rotten and Thomas Mariani discuss the direction, the stunts and the emotional send off to the late Paul Walker.

Horror News of the Week for 04/06/2015

Dave shares the Horror News of the Week beginning on a somber note with the passing of both Robert Z’Dar and Tom Towles. It seems David Lynch is out of the Showtime Twin Peaks revival. Too bad. From Tribeca comes the trailer for Stung. Wondercon provided Blumhouse the opportunity to push Insidious Chapter 3, The Gallows, Sinister 2 and more. The indy project Strange Blood works hard to capture your attention with its poster, stills and trailer.
