Eps 143 – The Best Horror Films of 2015

This is it, the final episode of 2015 and what better topic to discuss than The Best Horror Films of 2015. Doc, Dave, The Black Saint and Thomas compile their top horror films of the past 12 months and discuss what they loved about them as each dives into their list. A number of films appear on many of the lists – The Final Girls, It Follows and Krampus – while each list has its share of unique treasures and controversial additions. The Black Saint is relieved there is no mention of Area 51.

Dave begins the HORROR NEWS OF THE WEEK segment with news about the passing of Lemmy Kilmister from Motorhead, the troubles of Rob Zombie getting NC-17 rating for his next flick 31 and the reveal of Benedict Cumberbatch as Marvel’s Doctor Strange. In the What Have You Been Watching segment, Doc Rotten finally reviews the “controversial” film Big Game.

Co-hosts Doc RottenSantos (The Black Saint) Ellin Jr.Dave DreherThomas Mariani and Vixen, the voice of reason, are back again this week to give you the best in horror as they recap, review and obliterate all that is horror this week! Oh, and don’t forget – Stump the Saint! Eps 128 – The Visit

M. Night Shyamalan returns to the horror genre with the Blumhouse produced found-footage film THE VISIT – and only Doc Rotten is happy about it. Well, maybe he has a few other Grue-Crew co-hosts on his side. Or, not. And, just how funny is this horror film really anyways…

Also, the Grue-Crew discuss the awesome POV action trailer for Hardcore. Joseph Perry returns with four more reviews from the BiFan Internation Film Festival: Why Horror?, Extraordinary Tales, Yakuza Apocalypse and Night Fare.

 Review: The Visit (2015)

The Grue-crew contemplate the results of mixing found-footage, creepy old crazy people and weather-worn director M. Night Shyamalan for the Blumhouse film THE VISIT. “Yahtzee!” Ah, things don’t go as well as planned for poor Doc Rotten who once again likes a film that Thomas and The Black Saint…absolutely despise. At least this week, he has guest-host Christopher G. Moore to back him up – and maybe Vixen as well.

Convention Report: Dragon Con (2015)

Christopher G. Moore steps in from the Hannibal Fan Podcast to share his visit to Dragon Con 2015. He has all the skinny on the horror track, the Hannibal happenings and the cosplay

Review: The Gallows (2015)

Despite looking forward to seeing THE GALLOWS and hoping to enjoy another found footage theatrical release, even Doc Rotten is appalled by what crawled up onto the big screen and took a giant dump. Ugh. Thomas proclaims The Gallows the worst film of 2015. The Black Saint even thinks it out-stinks Area 51. It is a sad day at HNR. You are going to want to hear this one.
