Review: Muck (2015)

The much anticipated horror movie MUCK elicits an unexpected unilateral reaction to the film from the Grue-crew. The gore-filled creature feature from director Steve Wolsh stars horror legend Kane Hodder, Jaclyn Swedberg and Lachlan Buchanan. The story centers around a group of friends escaping the marshes surrounding Cap Cod only to find their night evolves into a living nightmare. You may never guess what the Muck happens on this episode…

Review: Valley of the Sasquatch (2015)

Bill Oberst Jr. stars in John Portanova’s well crafted Bigfoot film VALLEY OF THE SASQUATCH. The film benefits from focusing on the characters, a dysfunctional father and son dealing with the loss of the boy’s mother, relocating to a run-down family shack deep in the woods and surviving an attack from a trio of pissed-off hairy creatures hunting them down. Focusing on the family and characters, Valley of the Sasquatch delivers a strong entry into the Bigfoot sub-genre.

Review: The Voices (2015)

Director Marjane Satrapi delivers a far superior film with her dark horror comedy, The Voices starring Ryan Reynolds, Gemma Arterton, Anna Kendrick and Jacki Weaver. The film examines the effects of “voices” directing a troubled young man into making horrific and deadly decisions. Thomas and Dave share their thoughts on Reynolds terrific performance, the blend of drama, horror and comedy and the use of gore to illustrate why this film should appeal to most horror fans.

Eps 49 – 300: Rise of the Empire – Top 5 Horror Movie Quotes

300: Rise of the Empire (2014) is hacking and slashing its gory way through the competition at the box office this weekend. The film is spectacular in its graphics, style and star Eva Green. If you have seen the film, you know the one!

While the film is all about the beefy men behind Greece and the 300, it is Eva Green as Artemisia that wins all the praise and love from the HNR crew. She is spectacular and the best thing in 300: Rise of the Empire. Santos is also all about the over-the-top bloodshed and action the film offers while Dave is impressed with the 3D. Doc, however, has issues but admits it may be more about the screening experience than that actual film. You need to listen to understand that debacle. The grue-crew review the film in all its 3D gory mayhem.

The HNR grue-crew often share their love for actress Sharni Vinson who impressed in You’re Next. She is back with Patrick: Evil Awakens, a remake of the Richard Franklin film from 1979. Going into the film, the crew is a little nervous of what they will find wondering if Patrick is a good choice to be remade. Thankfully, the response is unanimous, each host giving the film high marks enjoying the modern take, gorier, more frightening and with a great cast. Dave even compares the direction to Brian de Palma. What? Yes, he did.

What? The Godzilla trailer is just too damn good to not bring up this week. Roar, baby, roar! And, of course, everything is better with a little Bacon and Dave shares the commercial Kevin Bacon stars in where he reprises many of his famous roles including Friday the 13th (1980). Wow!
